About Me

Introduction

Evan Coleman was born in New York, NY on May 15th, 1991 and currently lives in Battery Park City in Lower Manhattan.

In 2004 when Evan got his first Mac he began to play around with AppleScript. This eventually led to his discovery of Applescript Studio which led to his creation of an app called TubePod. TubePod was an app that converted YouTube videos into the proper video format for playback on the 5th generation iPod (the first video capable iPod).

Evan eventually moved from AppleScript to the native Mac programming language Objective-C. Since then he has created an iPhone app called Simple A-B Repeat and a popular Mac app called MenuWeather. MenuWeather has been featured as a staff pick on the (now gone) Apple downloads page and has been downloaded over 100,000 times. In 2012, Evan released a version of MenuWeather for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Evan also creates tweaks for jailbroken iOS devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad). His tweaks have been downloaded over half a million times. Also, his first paid tweak called Dashboard for Maps, which adds a virtual dashboard overlay to the default Apple Maps app, is available in the Cydia Store.

In 2011, Evan was one of the first developers to successfully port Siri to older, unsupported, devices like the iPod touch and iPhone 4. Shortly after, Evan released a tweak called SiriSports which added Sports scores to Siri for the first time. Apple later added this to Siri themselves with the release of iOS 6 in 2012.

In addition to Mac and iOS, Evan also creates websites using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP. His website browse.vze.com has been visited over 800,000 times.

In his spare time, Evan enjoys skiing, playing guitar and watching the Yankees, Jets and Knicks. You can listen to some of Evan (and his family's) music on SoundCloud, or watch his videos on YouTube.

Evan is 22 years old and is currently studying Aerospace Engineering at The State University of New York at Buffalo.

You can keep up with Evan by following him on Twitter, @edc1591.
